The 40s style pin up blotters were made by Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul’s, Minnesota. The printers & publishers started in 1896, and by World War Two, specialized in calendars, featuring work by Norman Rockwell & Maxfield Parish, and particularly pin up calendars and promotional advertising, by the likes of Gil Elvgren and Rolf Armstrong, who painted the two templates chosen by Joyce for his garage. Brown & Bigelow is still in business, specializing in branded apparel.
